Why do people like mainstream music?

OK, I'm going to rant a little here, but I'm sure a lot of you will agree. I'm sick and freaking tired of being around kids my age (14) and them talking about nothing but Ke$ha, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and all of these other main stream artists. I guess the hardest part for me is the lyrics. I'm really a lyrical fanatic, I think lyrics is definitely one of the most important parts to music. All of these morons I've listed are considered "Creative, Talented, etc." I don't understand at all. "Brushing my teeth with a bottle of Jack" "Boy's try to touch my junk, I'll slap'em if they're getting to drunk" -Ke$ha; And Eminem, he's regarded as the best rapper when it comes to lyrics, "I got sh*t stans on my underwear!" Yeah, so creative, if he can't rhyme anything to something besides swearing every other word, he needs help. I"m sure your curious about what kind of music I like well; U2, Coldplay, Oasis, Journey, Kansas, Goo Goo Dolls, Breaking Benjamin, etc. etc. Which all's lyrics have true meaning and emotion. Whilst all the others are about nothing but having , getting drunk, and partying until you p out.. What's your guys' opinion??
