Does anyone here think that Pokemon trainers are slave drivers?

I love Pokemon but recently my sister's been saying how Ash has hypnotized Pilatchu to be his slave. She says he, and all other trainers, are like abusive boyfriends and the Pokemon are like battered women. It's making me see things differently...
